Over the course of a couple of years I have thrown the entirety of my accounting education and career to the wind in pursuit of that which has always fascinated me, worlds beyond our own. The accounting realm was one of silos, debits, credits, and gray partitions that left me yearning for a world that made sense beyond the numbers. At a desk one can only imagine what the world has to offer and what one is capable of creating while waiting for the endless hours to pass to untether yourself.
Through set dressing I have found a new appreciation for the grand and the mundane.
My life is no longer full of routine water breaks or an endless waiting game for the time to strike 5 PM. Gray walls are now a starting point that must be saturated with life from floor to ceiling and the ticking of the clock fuels the energy and imagination to get it done. Set dressing has brought life back into my existence and provided me the space, inspiration, and endless challenges that help build upon the skills I have learned and will continue to develop with every project I am lucky to be a part of.
Whether it be dressing a space full of drapery and furniture made to look as it has not been disturbed in decades with dust that can make you sneeze through the screen, a futuristic brain transplant office in the middle of an abandoned building with glistening floors and stainless steel surgery tables so polished you can feel the chill off the reflections, a child's bedroom that reminds you of a simpler time we all long for, or a podcast studio so full of vibrant colors and cheeky references one mustn't take too seriously. These worlds we share with our friends and family start with the dreams and visions of someone, continue with the tireless efforts of the crew, and live forever in the memory of those that indulge in our fantasy lands.
I am a current I.A.T.S.E. Local 44 Property Person.
Thank you for stopping by and browsing through the work that was brought to life by amazing crews all over Los Angeles.
